Specific exchange program: Quebec

The Québec Student Exchange Program (QSEP) of the BCI (Bureau de coopération interuniversitaire) is intended for international students who want to study in Québec as well as for Québec students who want to study abroad. The QEP allows students to study in another university for one Canadian term (4 months), a fall or winter term, or a full year.

Under this program, nine institutions offer places in a large number of disciplines on English or French programs.

Please note that spaces are often limited and not all programs of study are open or available. We encourage you to check the admission requirements for each institution beforehand (GPA, proof of language proficiency -DALF, DELF, TOEFL...).

The application procedure for the BCI has its own procedures. Please contact your campus DRI or component SRI mobility manager and visit the following websites:

Country specificities

The academic calendar

Fall term: from the beginning of September to the end of December
Winter term : from the beginning of January to the end of April

Equivalences between the French university system and that of the country

Since there is no exact equivalence between the levels of study abroad, it is up to the host institution to determine which level of study the student can enroll in.
The credits to be obtained per term are as follows: 12 to 15 Canadian credits for the bachelor's degree and 9 to 12 Canadian credits for the master's degree. To be verified by the universities.

Eligibility criteria

- Be registered at AMU during the year preceding the exchange and during the year of the exchange
- Have completed the second year of your Bachelor's degree (no modules to be made up)
- Be at least in Licence 3 during the academic year of the exchange
- Be able to present the result of a language test to be provided during the internal AMU pre-selection if the courses are given in English
- Have a very good academic record (average of 12/20 generally required)
- Other criteria specific to each university

Financial resources

Students must be able to demonstrate their financial autonomy for the duration of their exchange (bank statements, proof of financing, etc.). On average, he/she must be able to justify 7 500 €/year outside Quebec and 4965 €/year in Quebec.

Administrative procedures after admission

- Study permit: The student must ensure that he/she has a valid passport for the entire duration of the mobility. He/she will have to take the necessary steps to obtain a study permit (for stays longer than 6 months: approximately $150) and a Certificate of Acceptance from Quebec (for stays longer than 6 months in Quebec).

For stays of less than 6 months, it is not necessary to apply for a study permit (nor a CAQ) but there are advantages to having it (extension of the stay, job on site...)

- Medical coverage: it can be taken out before departure or on the spot (for Canada, membership is done at the host university: 216 $ CAD for one session (4 months).
For Quebec: The Franco-Quebec memorandum of understanding allows students of French nationality to benefit from medical care on site by being covered by the Quebec health insurance plan. Ask your health insurance company for the SE 401-Q-102 form and then register with the Régie de l'assurance Maladie du Québec (RAMQ) once you are in France.
