OSAMU & Co
The Symphony Orchestra of Aix-Marseille Université and the Conservatoire National à Rayonnement Régional Pierre Barbizet.

In January 2015, Aix-Marseille University acquired a symphony orchestra that contributes to its influence and is likely to perform at major events organised by the university.
Since 2021, after many years of collaboration in terms of logistical and human support with the Conservatoire National à Rayonnement Régional (CNRR) of Marseille-Pierre Barbizet, the two institutions have decided to join forces and name the symphony orchestra "OSAMU & Co".
Under the direction of the Marseille conductor Sébastien Boin, OSAMU & Co brings together students and staff members from all the university's components and students and staff members from the conservatory, recruited at the highest level to play the great symphonic repertoire and to contribute to its enrichment by programming contemporary creations. OSAMU & Co now has 80 members.

"A 2021-22 season that promises to be daring for OSAMU & Co!
Marked by eclectic programs for large orchestra that will form a real journey through the 19th, 20th and 21st centuries, this season will have the particularity of federating most of the artistic ensembles of AMU as well as the great students of the conservatory of Marseille around common projects.
Maurice Ravel will be honoured first of all with the Tombeau de Couperin, the Concerto for the Left Hand and his famous orchestration of Mussorgsky's Pictures at an Exhibition. Then will come a program of Symphonic Jazz which will bring together OSAMU & Co and O'JAZZ AMU & Co, and finally the creation of a large-scale show by the Greek composer Alexandros Markeas, composed after the ecological question of the 7th continent, whose name he bears, conceived for OSAMU & Co, EV'AMU and DANSE'AMU.
In April, the students of the university will also have the privilege of participating in the inter-university orchestra project led by CIVIS, where the legendary 1st Symphony by Gustav Mahler will be performed with young musicians from many European universities.
During the year, OSAMU will also offer more intimate concerts in chamber orchestra formation as well as creative film-concerts conducted in complicity with the students of the SATIS department.

"ACCENTS BALKANS" - A production of the Festival d'Aix in tribute to the living musical repertoire of the Balkans and Eastern Europe.
Accents Balkans" is a participative project called "Passerelles" which invites to a musical journey, between traditional songs and creation.
Under the artistic and musical direction of Philippe Franceschi, assisted by Florence Nowak, "Accents Balkans" includes the transmission of traditional songs - Bulgarian, Greek, Romanian and Turkish - accompanied by the quintet Aksak, and a creation, Le Chant de Vélès, commissioned by the educational service of the Festival d'Aix-en-Provence to the Serbian composer Jug Marković for voice and orchestra, conducted by Sébastien Boin.
