Since its creation, Aix-Marseille Université (AMU) has been open to the world. Today, it is the largest French-speaking university in the world, with 80,000 students, including 10,000 international students.

For the strength of its research

Aix-Marseille Université is a research-intensive university of international standing. 130 research structures linked to major national organizations, 12 doctoral schools, hospitals and 15 interdisciplinary institutes are the bridges between research and education. AMU places particular emphasis on 5 major fields: energy; environmental and universal sciences; life and health sciences; advanced sciences and technologies; and human and social sciences .
The dynamism of its research enables it to count more than 3,400 doctoral students, 39.5% of whom are international, from over 100 countries.
 

For its commitment to sustainable development

Aware of environmental issues, AMU is politically committed to developing a sustainable development strategy. Around 1/3 of its research structures are working in an interdisciplinary way on this theme to provide concrete answers. AMU students also play a key role in the development and implementation of this policy. Each year, AMU promotes cross-disciplinary educational projects that integrate sustainable development and social responsibility concepts through the DD en TRANS'. A dynamic student life

Thanks to the diversity of services offered by the university, students can make the most of their time at AMU. The university offers a range of cultural activities open to all(Printemps des associations, the Festiv'AMU, the student ball, the OSAMU symphony orchestra, the Jazz-band, etc.) and promotes access to culture for all by enabling its students to obtain additional discounts within the region's cultural structures.
AMU students can also enjoy a well-developed sporting life, thanks to a range of over 80 physical activities to which they have free access.
Last but not least, they can also take part in student community life, thanks to the more than 160 student associations present on the university's various campuses.

Aix-Marseille University boasts an extensive and varied built heritage. Located in four departments of the southern region, the university has made a concerted effort to modernize its major campuses and bring them up to international standards.
