Going on an exchange program

Partir en programme d'échange

Exchange programs offer the opportunity for students enrolled at Aix-Marseille University to continue their studies at a foreign partner university for a semester or an academic year. As a student at Aix-Marseille University, you will follow your courses at the host university where you are exempt from registration fees. In the majority of cases, thanks to the transfer of credits obtained, the courses taken will enable you to obtain your degree prepared at Aix-Marseille University.

Why leave?

A study stay abroad is undoubtedly an asset for your CV and your future professional career. This mobility allows you to broaden your horizons and confront yourself with another reality by approaching your discipline from a different angle. A mobility abroad is therefore a life experience that goes beyond the strict academic framework. This project will not only allow you to improve your command of a foreign language but also to acquire real intercultural competence.

Where to go?

Aix-Marseille University has developed numerous agreements with international partners that offer students the opportunity to study abroad.

Several criteria can guide your choice of a foreign university: the courses offered, your affinity for a country, your professional project, your language skills...

How to apply?

If you have found a destination (or several) that interests you and for which you are eligible, you should :

  • Contact your International Relations pedagogical advisor, who will advise and support you in defining your mobility project.
  • Contact your international mobility manager who will give you details of the application procedure.

You will be asked to fill in your application form:

  • your university transcripts
  • a CV
  • a cover letter explaining your mobility project and your choice of destinations
  • the list of courses chosen for each destination: this draft study contract must be validated by the person in charge of the programme or your training at AMU. It will guarantee you the recognition of your following course abroad on your return from your mobility

Some destinations require additional documents: please refer to the detailed information for each program in the "Where to go? »

If you are preselected, you may have to complete another application for the partner university in which you wish to study. The final selection is made by the host university who will send you a confirmation letter. This letter is the only way to accept your mobility and allow you to continue your studies (transport, accommodation...).

Please note: An exchange departure is a project that is prepared a year in advance, so be careful of the deadlines for each program!
