OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES

Strengthen relations between higher education, secondary schools and the socio-economic world. Achieving South Africa's and Senegal's sustainability goals through economic diversification in rural areas.

Objectives:
The MASSTER project aims to support 6 partner higher education institutions in Senegal and South Africa for sustainable development. MASSTER addresses :

  • the needs of local farmers to carry out income-generating activities.
  • outreach services to provide relevant training (with income-generating potential) for farmers.
  • the need for municipalities to better manage migration flows from rural areas.

Within the framework of 8 work modules, the project will therefore focus on analyzing the risk factors that cause migration and those that reduce it, as well as the most relevant training programs for farmers and those with income-generating potential.
Partner HEIs will develop and accredit 4 training courses with income-generating potential.
Training of trainers will be provided to HEI and outreach staff to create mixed pairs of educators from formal and non-formal education, who will organize training sessions for farmers and students.

Universities will be supported in the development of effective mechanisms for the management of migration flows from rural areas, critical thinking, the preservation of Africa's natural and historical cultural heritage, and the protection of the environment and ecosystems for sustainable agricultural development.

Various stakeholders will be brought together, and the creation of a whole-of-society approach will be supported.
Target group awareness-raising and dissemination will be ensured, as well as network capacity-building.
