Application, Eligibility and Registration

AMU has a large network of partner universities around the world. Within the framework of these partnerships, we welcome international exchange students, for one semester or full year. Students coming under the ERASMUS+, BCI, ISEP or bilateral cooperation programs are eligible for exchange mobility at AMU. The application and admission procedure for an exchange program consists in several steps.

Step 1: Application at your home university

Before you can take part in a exchange program at Aix-Marseille University, you must check that there is a cooperation agreement between your home university and AMU.

You must then follow the application procedure of your university.

If your application is accepted, you will be nominated by your international coordinator at your home university, to our international international mobility managers at AMU.

Step 2: Application after your nomination

Once your university has sent your nomination, you can proceed with your AMU application.

After validation by AMU of your nomination, you will receive a link by email, with instructions to complete the online application (MOVEON platform) by uploading the requested documents.

The required documents are:

  • Curriculum Vitae in French or in English
  • Motivation letter (state why you choose AMU and what you expect to study) in French or in English
  • Copy of passport
  • Academic transcript of records of undergraduate and graduate studies (translated in English or in French)
  • Certificate of language proficiency :
    • in French TCF/DELF/DALF B1 level.
      NB: B2 level in French is required at the Faculty of Law and political science
    • in English IELTS/TOEFL/TOEIC/university certificate equivalent to B2 level.
      NB: C1 level in English is required at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities
  • One letter of recommendation (in French or in English)
  • Learning Agreement (list of the courses at AMU selected by the student).

Which program should I choose?

Depending on the terms of the international partnership between AMU and your home university, you may be able to do an exchange mobility in certain departments of AMU.

Tuition fees

Students participating in the exchange will enroll and pay tuition fees at their home university. For the duration of their participation in the exchange program, they will be enrolled as non-degree seeking full-time students at Aix-Marseille University where no tuition fee will be required.

This waiver does not apply to language classes at the  University Language Service (SUL), except in special cases (ISEP, specific programs with certain partners).
