OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES

EdViCon's objective is to enable and disseminate an educational experience that uses a portable videoconferencing facility for online and blended learning. In addition, it is to ensure that the experience is designed to meet the pedagogical needs of teaching and learning in a variety of environments, i.e. the classroom, the studio, the laboratory, etc. EdViCon addresses digital transformation through the development of digital readiness, resilience and capability. The project supports the digital capabilities of the higher education sector by stimulating innovative teaching and learning practices.

Theproject deliverables are :

  • A literature review presenting the state of the art,
  • A presentation of use cases for videoconferencing systems in higher education,
  • A presentation of didactic considerations and online tools used to involve and engage students,
  • Teaching scenarios that make greater use of experimentation and innovation,
  • Creation of a toolbox adapted to the context of portable videoconferencing tools and online tools dedicated to teaching and learning activities,
  • A model of reusable workshops to facilitate the work of educators, and
  • A competency matrix for educators and students, validated by personal development questionnaires developed as a tool for innovation adoption and reflection.

These deliverables provide a mapping of the diversity of key success factors on which successful use cases of a videoconferencing system depend, as well as the mapping of various online tools used to enable student involvement and engagement that replace physical classroom resources.

For teachers in higher education, different types of classroom (i.e. design studio, gallery, laboratory, etc.) and tools (e.g. chalk and speech/software-assisted analysis in mathematics) require a thorough overhaul when teaching sessions via video conferencing systems.

The innovative aspect:

Two prototype toolboxes for online conferencing.

Online videoconferencing training modules and materials for educators, trainers and students.
