Displaced students from Ukraine - Applications for the 23/24 school year

In the context of the conflict that broke out between Russia and Ukraine in February 2022, Aix-Marseille University extends its support for displaced students from Ukraine by opening a dedicated admission path to the university.

Depending on their profile, students from Ukraine can apply to Aix-Marseille Université following different procedures

  • Application tools for a first registration at Aix-Marseille Université depends on student's degree and home residence .
  • Being a beneficiary of Protection Temporaire (PT) or in the process of obtaining it, also has an impact on applyong for a Bachelor's level.

(*) The platform Études en France in Ukraine will remain open all year long for Ukrainian students which means that late applications can be accepted after 15/03 on the platform.

Displaced students from Ukraine benefiting from Protection Temporaire

  • Students benefiting from Protection Temporaire will be able to apply to AMU via the eCandidat platform.
  • The platform will be open from March 1 to September 1, 2023
  • The platform will allow to distinguish:
    • French-speaking students who will be allowed to apply for disciplinary studies, within the limit of two wishes per faculty
    • non-French-speaking students who need to upgrade their French language skills and who can apply for the University Diploma (D.U) in French as a Foreign Language (FLE) offered by the University Language Service - SUL(subject to capacity).
  • The following documents are required:
    • a valid identity card
    • proof of student status: student certificate or student card from a Ukrainian higher education institution
    • a residence permit: Protection Temporaire or temporary residence permit issued or being issued

What is temporary protection?

Since March 2022, the European Union countries have granted the status of "temporary protection" to Ukrainians fleeing their country at war.
This is an exceptional and automatic measure, as long an application is made. It allows displaced persons to benefit from harmonized rights throughout the European Union.

Financial and housing assistance

  • The social service of the CROUS must be contacted for any financial aid or housing request:

The CROUS only grants scholarships to students enrolled in a National Diploma (DN) and who benefit from Temporary Protection. Students enrolled in the University Diploma (DU) of FLE will only be able to benefit from occasional assistance.
