The regional final of the Ma thèse en 180 secondes contest is back in person! 12 young researchers presented their thesis in 3 minutes at the Auditorium of the Mucem on Tuesday, March 22, starting at 6 pm.

Aix-Marseille Université, Avignon Université and the Université of Toulon selected their best talents to offer you an evening rich in discoveries. On the agenda: 12 x 3 minutes of scientific show where each PhD student took you on a journey of discovery of their research topic in the presence of an exceptional jury composed of :

  • Aurélie Philippe, Regional Delegate CNRS Provence and Corsica (jury president)
  • Éric Berton, President of Aix-Marseille Université
  • Xavier Leroux, President of the Université de Toulon
  • Georges Linares, Vice-President Research of Avignon Université
  • Aurélie Biancarelli-Lopes, Deputy Mayor of Marseille in charge of research, student life and higher education
  • Olivier Martocq, Radio France journalist
  • Peter Stephen Assaghle, winner of the 1st Regional and 3rd National MT180 2021 Award

An event to be followed both in person and remotely

For the first time, the regional final of the Aix-Marseille Provence Méditerranée group will be held outside the university! The Mucem will open the doors of its Auditorium to allow you to follow the event in the best possible conditions.

The event will also be broadcasted live on Aix-Marseille Université's Youtube channel, as well as on its Facebook page.

Three winners for the 2022 edition

Four awards will be given at the end of the presentations:

  • 1st Jury Prize: Priscille Riondel, PhD student at the Institut de Neurosciences de la Timone (Aix-Marseille Université) for her thesis Etude de la transmission GABAergique dans les neurones spinaux qui contactent le liquide cérébrospinal chez la souris adulte.
  • 2nd Jury Prize: Anna Capitaine, PhD Student at the Centre Interdisciplinaire de Nanoscience de Marseille (Aix-Marseille Université) for her thesis Matériaux photovoltaïques haute performance à base de nanocubes.
  • 3rd Jury Prize and Public Prize: Amandine Rousset, PhD student at the Equipe GREEN, INRAe (Avignon Université) for her thesis Intensification du procédé d’extraction en phase aqueuse de la résine de guayule par couplage de techniques innovantes.

The Public Prize included the votes of the public present at the Mucem, as well as the votes of the public following the online event.

Priscille Riondel and Amandine Rousset qualified for the national semi-final of the competition which will take place in Paris on the 8th and 9th of April.

All performances will soon be available on Youtube.

This event was held in compliance with the sanitary measures in force.

The Ma thèse en 180 secondes competition is inspired by the Three minute thesis (3MT) competition, which was first held in 2008 at the University of Queensland, Australia. Since 2014, this international science popularization contest is organized in France by France Universités (formerly CPU) and the CNRS.
