Label CIVIS - Call for projects to support civic initiatives

Image-label CIVIS

CIVIS values initiatives aiming to develop our societies at local and international levels with its new label. The call is open to all students, academics, researchers and administrative staff of CIVIS partner universities who would like to submit a project and be rewarded with the new European university label!

CIVIS Label Opportunities

Each year, the CIVIS European Civic University offers the opportunity to its community - students, academics, researchers and administrative staff - to submit an ongoing project or an innovative idea that fits the civic values and objectives of the CIVIS Alliance.

The CIVIS label was born out of a desire to reinforce and promote the principles and values of CIVIS by building a sense of shared civic commitment and belonging.
The aim of the call is to support quality civic initiatives to strengthen social cohesion and solidarity among the CIVIS community at the local and global levels.

Except obtaining the CIVIS label, the selected initiatives will benefit from :

  • Access to a wider European network of innovators, researchers, students and stakeholders willing to engage with current societal challenges;
  • International visibility and communication channels of the European University
  • International recognition that will be taken into account for future applications, as the label is a first step towards a process of in-depth support by the partner universities.

The terms of the CIVIS call for projects

Project topics may include

  • climate change
  • inclusive and quality education
  • gender equality
  • peace, justice and strong institutions
  • Sustainable cities, communities and clean energy
  • human rights
  • reducing inequality
  • green energy
  • health and well-being

The CIVIS label is intended to reward single initiatives. Institutions (as a whole) cannot be eligible for the CIVIS label as it is not possible to verify the compliance of all initiatives carried out by an entire organisation.

Applications will be evaluated on a quarterly basis (every four months), with the first evaluation of proposals scheduled for 31 May 2021.

Projects should be submitted using the online form available on the CIVIS page of the call for projects.
For more information on how to submit applications, and how the CIVIS label will be assessed, visit the CIVIS page of the call for initiatives.
