TCF DAP

1. Description

The French knowledge test (TCF) for university pre-admission application (DAP), in French "TCF pour la DAP", is required for all foreign students* who wish to enrol, in France, in the first year of a Bachelor's degree (L1) at a university or a school of architecture.
This certification of French language level accompanies the DAP dossier (also called"Dossier vert"): see the information on the page of the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation (session 2023-2024).

Each year, only one session of the TCF-DAP is organized by each university, usually in January or February, for the university admission on the following academic year.

IMPORTANT : Only candidates who have submitted a DAP file are entitled to register for the TCF DAP. The DAP file must be submitted to the university where they wish to take the TCF DAP exams. For other TCF candidates see the TCF general public page.

2. Registrations

BEFORE registering, please read carefully the registration instructions (in "Consignes d'inscription", opposite).

DATES: From October 1 to December 15, 2022

RATES : 74€.

At the end of the procedure, it is necessary to save and print your registration confirmation.

N.B. It is normal that the TCF test should take place after the submission of the DAP files (same deadline for both registrations).

3. Session TCF DAP 2023 (academic year 2023/2024)

• TESTS: Monday January 6, 2023
• PLACE: ALLSH faculty, 29 avenue Robert Schuman, Aix-en-Provence (see the access map, opposite)
• ROOM: will be indicated here
  [ATTENTION, this room may change before the test]
• SCHEDULE : 8h30 - 12h (approximate total duration of the tests  itself: 2h25)
• DOCUMENTS AND MATERIALS REQUIRED : Show up ontime in front of the examination room with :
  • an identity document (passport or residence card)
  • a black ballpoint pen
  • the confirmation of registration for the TCF for the DAP (issued by FEi) as well as the convocation stamped by the university component (page 9 of the DAP file) 
  • an  A4-size envelope with your name and postal address (see La Poste advises) stamped for a "Recommandé avec accusé de réception"
• As part of the health protocol for the Covid-19 pandemic, please follow these guidelines:
  • Come alone to the exam (No accompanying person may enter the university premises)

4. Preparing for the exam

We strongly advise you to familiarize yourself with the TCF tests:

5. Results

Official TCF certificates for the DAP are generally available 2 weeks after the test.

Candidates should collect their attestation of result from the SUL or provide an envelope on the day of the examination (see section 3).
They must sign and send a copy of their certificate as soon as possible to the school department where they submitted their DAP file (green file).
NO results will be given by telephone or e-mail.

The level obtained corresponds to the overall score (average of the MCQ tests), indicated in the 2nd column, as well as the level of the written expression test, which is indicated in the last column.
