- The scientific research policy of the Institute,
- The training policy,
- The management of resources,
- The activities of the Centre for advice, expertise and consultation (CréaLab),
- The evaluation of its activities,
- The proposal to appoint the Director of the Institute (RST)
- Appointment of the members of the Scientific and Training Advisory Board.

The Institute Council is composed of:

Members in an advisory capacity:
- The Director of the Institute (RST),
- Her deputy directors,
- The Project Manager,
- The Director of the University's Doctoral College,
- The heads of the Institute's research areas,
- Those responsible for the training courses created within the framework of the Institute,
- Those in charge of the Centre for advice, expertise and consultation (CreaLab),
- A full representative and an alternate representative of the students and doctoral students, appointed by the Director of the Institute from among the student delegates of the courses under the Institute's responsibility and/or among the doctoral students funded within the framework of the Institute.

Members with voting rights:
- The directors of the components to which the Institute belongs or their representatives (college 1),
- The directors of the Institute's research units or their representatives (college 2),
The principle of equality of votes between the two colleges is assured.

The Council of the Institute is chaired by the Director of the Institute.

If necessary and in an advisory capacity, the Director of the Institute may invite to the meetings of the Institute Council any person he or she deems useful, either for a particular point or for the whole meeting.

The Institute Council shall meet at least twice a year.
