BANDEAU WEB JOB

The International Student Welcome team has listed all the questions you might have about working in France:

Can I work as an international student?

Yes, all students, regardless of their nationality, can work in France. French law allows foreign students to work 964 hours per year, which is the equivalent of 60% of the legal working time . Algerian students are subject to a different regulation and can only work up to 50% of the legal working time and if they hold a "temporary work authorization".

All information about your rights is available on the public service website.

Can I work as a minor student?

Yes, work is allowed for minors from the age of 14, but within the framework of special regulations specified on the public service website.

Why do I need a Temporary Work Permit?

The temporary work permit (APT) allows foreign students residing in France to work within certain limits:

  • Students from outside Europe except Algerians: maximum 60% of the annual working time, i.e. 964h maximum per year.
  • Algerian students: 50% of the annual working time.

Do I need an APT to do an internship?

No, a foreign student residing in France who holds a "student" or "student mobility program" residence permit and who wishes to do an internship does not need to request a work permit or an opinion on an internship agreement.
