Scientific research today requires precise, complex and expensive equipment to make progress. This equipment is increasingly shared and used in an international context.
PIA 1 made a major effort for intermediate facilities (EQUIPEX), while PIA 2 focused on a more limited number of structural facilities. PIA 3 continues this ambition, in order to support French scientific leadership. It differs from the other two phases in its desire to support facilities of national scope, this time very strongly pooled.
Thus, the call for expressions of interest for ESR / EquipEx+ in the "Structuring equipment for research" action of the 3rd Future Investment Programme (PIA3) aims to provide French research with high-level equipment to enable it to host experiments conducted by national and international researchers in the best working conditions and to the highest standards. This action also contributes to the digital transformation of research and innovation by integrating the essential developments for efficient research with state-of-the-art resources.
This equipment must be proposed by higher education and/or research establishments, with priority given to highly shared equipment. They should be open to all the scientific communities concerned, as well as to companies, on the basis of a fee structure that will ensure the operation, updating and - in part - renewal of the equipment.
- The first axis of the call for expressions of interest of this action aims to identify equipment projects that will be primarily in the "digital services and infrastructures for research and innovation" dimension. This axis also includes virtual infrastructures as well as research facilities in digital sciences that contribute to the emergence of new shared concepts and/or innovative digital solutions. The humanities and social sciences as well as the sciences for education are also concerned. Information systems projects for administrative purposes in higher education and/or research institutions are not covered by this call.
- The second axis of the call for expressions of interest concerns equipment intended for all scientific fields, including the humanities and social sciences as well as the sciences for education, with the exception of the digital sciences targeted by axis 1.
These projects must be among the most necessary and structuring for the scientific communities
