ADAM und EVELYN

ADAM und EVELYN

From Andreas Goldstein - Germany 2018 - In VOSTFR.

Summer 1989. A tailor with a passion for his job, Adam doesn't need much to be happy: his old house with its idyllic garden, an oasis in the East German province where he lives. And his sewing machine. But Adam also needs Evelyn. He doesn't want to live without her. So the day Evelyn puts her feet up after catching Adam flirting, Adam sets off in pursuit of his beloved. He follows her as far as Hungary, to Lake Balaton - and manages to get close to her. But then it is announced on the radio that Hungary is opening its western border. Evelyn feels an irrepressible need for freedom: she wants to go to the West, to study, to live there. Adam feels good in the East, but now he has to decide between his love for Evelyn and his beloved homeland. Does it really matter where you live?
ADAM & EVELYN recreates the atmosphere of last summer in the GDR, interwoven with the existential questions that thirty-year-olds ask themselves. Based on Ingo Schulze's eponymous novel, director Andreas Goldstein creates a "socialist" love story.
