The new series of CIVIS workshops on innovative teaching methods

CIVIS is organizing a series of online workshops on the various innovative teaching methods of the moment. Open to teacher-researchers of all disciplines and to doctoral students for some, this series aims to allow the CIVIS community to adopt these new approaches and thus to help the development of good practices.
On the menu: stimulating topics, high-level specialists, tested ideas and transformative approaches!


Course of the workshops

The working group on innovative pedagogies of the European Civic University CIVIS sets up a cycle of webinars on the different pedagogical methods. During these workshops, composed of an average of twenty people, the exchanges and feedback from peers and experts capitalized during the group activities allow us to draw up an analysis of the trends and experiences in the nine universities of our alliance and then to experiment transformative approaches.

Source Criticism and Plagiarism Prevention in Higher Education

This workshop is organized by Stockholm University on 5 May 2021.

The aim of the workshop is to understand how university teachers can prevent plagiarism practices among students. By focusing on learning strategies and suitable exercises, it is possible to reduce the impact of these practices. The workshop will also provide an opportunity to compare the rules and methods implemented by CIVIS universities to avoid plagiarism

Digital Technologies for Active and Collaborative Learning

This workshop is organized by the University of Rome La Sapienza on 19 May 2021.

It proposes a day to train teachers on the approach of trialogical learning through the use of technologies (Moodle, Google Suite, Mentimeter, etc.)

Innovative pedagogies - New ways for university education

This workshop is organized by the Eberhard Karl University of Tübingen on June 17 and October 14, 2021.

The aim of these two sessions is to offer teachers an introduction to innovative pedagogies - in general, but also in the context of CIVIS. Teachers who have contributed to the manual on innovative pedagogies will be invited to present their examples (1 to 3 examples per workshop).

Competency Based Electronic Assessment (COMET)

This workshop is organized by the Eberhard Karl University of Tübingen on September 30, 2021.

The objective of this workshop is to redesign the online module on digital assessments already existing at the University for the CIVIS context, moreover the virtual mobilities encouraged by the covid 19 pandemic bring new assessment issues. Participants will be invited to choose a digital evaluation format, implement it and adopt the participant's point of view.

How to teach (almost) everything in the Fablabs

This workshop is organized by the Université Libre de Bruxelles on October 20, 2021.

A global network of local community labs that stimulate invention by sharing access to digital fabrication tools, Fablabs are an ideal environment for teaching social and technical skills for the 21st century. This workshop will be based on a discussion with Victor Lévy, professor of architecture, and Denis Terwagne, professor of physics, two professors at ULB who are experimenting and developing an agile teaching method within the ULB Fablab.

Social pedagogy and democratic education

This workshop is organized by the National and Capodistrian University of Athens on November 26th 2021

This workshop is offered to trainers who aim at supporting a culture of democracy in education (formal and non-formal). The aim is to provide participants with the methodological tools and skills necessary for them to become familiar with certain issues of social pedagogy, such as promoting social inclusion, civic participation and combating structural disadvantages that manifest and reproduce themselves in education.
