Launch of the Interdisciplinarity mission: the modernization of AMU continues

Aix-Marseille Université has made interdisciplinarity a challenge for transformation and cooperation in many fields. To bring about this change, an Interdisciplinarity Mission has been launched in partnership with the CNRS and the IRD. Unprecedented in its positioning and ambitions in the French university landscape, it will contribute to the modernization of AMU, committed to the development of its territory.

In the presence of Éric Berton, President of Aix-Marseille University, Antoine Petit, President and CEO of CNRS and Valérie Verdier, President and CEO of IRD, this day, coordinated by Maryline Crivello, Vice President of the Board of Directors, will be an opportunity to better understand the interdisciplinary strategy of the university in its entirety The event will be punctuated by presentations, round tables and workshops. To illustrate the challenges of the interdisciplinary approach, academic, socio-economic and international actors involved in this approach will present research and training projects that cross different disciplines.

  • 11h00-12h15 THE COSQUER CREEK IN MARSEILLES - An interdisciplinary project, a heritage to be safeguarded. Dialogue between prehistoric sciences, cave art, environmental sciences, architecture and heritage conservation
  • 14h00-16h30 THE CIRCULATION OF KNOWLEDGE: Reflections on inter- and transdisciplinarity.
    3 themes: Interdisciplinarity at the international level - Arts, cultures and sciences - Sustainable development objectives.

This event for the general public follows a first flagship event on interdisciplinarity and the new bridges created at AMU between teaching, research and the needs of economic and cultural players: on Tuesday 15 June, 3 round tables were broadcast to learn more about the institution's institutes, their concrete actions and the strengths they represent for the region in terms of interdisciplinarity, educational and scientific innovations and expertise in the face of current crises. Learn more about the Interdisciplinarity Mission :
The main objectives of this new mission are to:

  1. to share a global approach to interdisciplinarity adapted to AMU, by creating synergies between transformative projects and interdisciplinary strategy;
  2. to remove structural obstacles to interdisciplinarity by implementing specific proactive actions and an integrated approach, by experimenting with facilitating and encouraging practices;
  3. provide practical support for the implementation of interdisciplinary projects, in particular by working on specific lines of action linking science and society and by defining milestones and tools for evaluating and measuring the impact of interdisciplinary integration;
  4. capitalize, model, enhance and disseminate good practices within AMU and among our partners.
