Ma thèse en 180 secondes - regional finale 2024

The Ma thèse en 180 secondes competition is back! Come and support the 12 Aix-Marseille Provence Méditerranée PhD students at the Antoine Vitez theater in Aix-en-Provence on Friday, February 23, 2024.

Friday, February 23, 2024 from 6pm

Théâtre Antoine Vitez, Schuman site, Aix-en-Provence

The regional final of the Ma thèse en 180 secondes (MT180) competition is just waiting for you! The idea is simple: doctoral students must explain their research topic to the public in the most accessible way possible, in just three minutes, all with the help of a single slide.

Aix-Marseille Université, Avignon Université and Université de Toulon welcome the Università di Corsica Pasquale Paoli for the first time! This is an opportunity for the audience to discover the diversity of the work carried out by doctoral students in the research laboratories of these four universities.

An evening of scientific spectacle!

The 12 best talents selected during the semi-final on February 22, 2024 will be keen to share their research in a clear and entertaining way. Questions and discoveries in ecology, health, law, translation and much more will set the pace of these 12 x 3-minute science shows. Whether on stage at the Théâtre Antoine Vitez or live on Aix-Marseille Université's Youtube channel, they're waiting for you to dazzle you!

At the end of the show, three performances will be rewarded with prizes awarded by the jury. The audience present in the auditorium will also be able to vote for their favorite participant. The winners of the 1st Jury Prize and the Audience Prize (or the 1st and 2nd Jury Prizes, if 1st Jury Prize and Audience Prize are identical) will qualify for the national semi-final, and then try to earn a ticket to the national and international finals.

Practical information:

  • The finalists will be presented on this page on Thursday February 22 from 5pm, following the regional semi-final.
  • The final can be followed live from the Aix-Marseille Université Youtube channel, but only those present in the auditorium will be able to vote for the public prize.

About Ma thèse en 180 secondes :
The Ma thèse en 180 secondes competition is inspired by the Three minute thesis (3MTMC) competition, first held in 2008 at the University of Queensland, Australia. The Quebec competition is the first of its kind in the French language, and has been running since 2012. Since 2014, the competition has been organized in France by France Universités and CNRS, in partnership with Casden, Maif and MGEN.
