As part of the ACRAAE (Anthropologie des Circulations Religieuses Afrique-Amérique-Europe) Masters-Doctoral training program supported by the SoMuM Institute, Campus France and the MMSH, Souleymane Bachir Diagne's lecture "Le pluralisme religieux en théologie et philosophie islamiques" (Religious pluralism in Islamic theology and philosophy) will take place on Thursday February 15, at the Maison méditerranéenne des Sciences de l'Homme.

ACRAEE brings together three universities - Aix-Marseille Université, Université de Montréal, Universidade de Lisboa - and four laboratories: Institut d'Ethnologie et d'Anthropologie sociale (IDEAS), Mobilités Voyages Innovation et Dynamiques dans les Afriques Méditerranéenne et subsaharienne (MOVIDA), Laboratoire Population Environnement Développement(LPED), Instituto de ciências sociais (ICS). It develops reflection on theAnthropology of Religious Circulations in America, Africa and Europe, and encourages young anthropological researchers to nurture plurality and dialogue between religions and spiritualities.

Speaker
Souleymane Bachir Diagne, professor of philosophy at Columbia University in the city of New York and director of the Institute of African Studies (IAS), is a philosopher specializing in the history of science and Islamic philosophy. His talk on religious plurality in Islam will be followed by a discussion of diversity and cosmopolitanism in contemporary religious landscapes. Souleymane Bachir Diagne's work provides an opportunity to reflect on the place of religious actors in today's societies and, in the face of shifting political contexts, on our ability (or lack of it) to think together, beyond particularisms.
