Aix-Marseille University is proud to be a member of the U7 Alliance alongside influential universities and colleges in the enlarged G7 countries. In a new way, the Presidents of these world-class higher education institutions are working together to influence societal change and strengthen their role as major actors for progress.
As part of the French presidency of the G7 in Biarritz, from 24 to 26 August, 45 universities, including 13 French universities, wish to coordinate their ambitions and their voice in order to play an active role on the international political scene.
The issue concerns 5 major global challenges: the role of universities in a global world; climate and energy transition; ESRI's inequalities and responsibility in combating societal polarization; the impact of technological innovation on education and research; and civic engagement.
At the end of the discussions that the working groups will conduct from next week, the U7 alliance will submit to the President of the Republic, Emmanuel Macron, a list of 15 very concrete commitments that they will make on these societal themes.
