The response deadline is June 7th, 2023.

Themes of the thesis projects

The research projects presented must be part of the InCIAM's themes (see Appendix A for a description). They will contribute to the understanding of the dynamics, factors and conditions that influence creative and innovation processes and / or the development of creative productions and innovations adapted to individuals and organizations. 2.    Development of innovations

2.1. Health

2.2. Education

2.3. Work

Doctoral students will be hosted in a research unit reporting to InCIAM (see Appendix B). A co-direction is possible (even preferable depending on the theme) with a teacher-researcher or researcher from another research unit of the InCIAM. For the duration of the contract, the doctoral students will devote themselves mainly to their thesis work, but they may be given additional assignments, notably within the framework of the Institute (see Appendix E).

The theses can be prepared in the following doctoral schools:

Evaluation criteria

The examination of the applications will focus on the quality of the academic file as well as on the quality of the doctoral project and its interest in relation to the research axes of the InCIAM.

The selection of candidates will be done in two phases: 1/ an eligibility phase (examination of written projects); 2/ an admission phase (audition of the candidates retained after the eligibility phase).

Admission requirements: possession of a master's degree or equivalent and, after the auditions, selection of the thesis projects retained by the jury with a view to financing the doctoral student by InCIAM.

Application form (electronic version only)

To apply for an InCIAM doctoral contract, the future doctoral student must:

·         hold a French or European master's degree or a degree from a country that has signed the Bologna Agreement. Students who hold a degree that does not correspond to the master's degree or students who hold a foreign degree must contact the doctoral school in relation to their field of study, which will determine whether a master's exemption is possible.

·         inform their Master 2 thesis director as well as the prospective thesis director(s) of their interest in applying for a doctoral contract,

·         to put together an application file that must include

    • the completed information form,
    • a curriculum vitae,

    • the thesis project (5 pages) outlining the general problematic, the theoretical and empirical supports, the general hypotheses, the methodology, the expected results, the possible expected spin-offs, and the bibliographical references (in appendix),
    • a letter of support from a teacher-researcher or researcher authorized to direct research, permanently attached to one of the research units of the InCIAM, and who will be designated as thesis director and, if necessary, from another teacher-researcher or researcher who will be designated as co-director of the thesis,
    • this letter must be accompanied by the favorable opinion of the director and/or deputy director of the research unit (or research units in the case of a co-direction involving two laboratories) that will host the future doctoral student.

Applications from outside the Aix-Marseille University are welcome.

After agreement of the research unit(s), the candidates must send their file by email to the InCIAM management which will contact them afterwards.

Course of the auditions

During the audition of the candidates, the oral presentation of the thesis project will not exceed 10 minutes. It will be followed by a question-and-answer session 15 minutes with the members of the jury.

ANNEX A

Presentation of InCIAM

The Institute Creativity and Innovations of Aix-Marseille (InCIAM) is an Institute of Establishment under article 38 of the statutes of Aix-Marseille University.

The "Institutes" bring together research teams from one or more units and master's or DESU / DU / CU programs, which are part of one or more components, and at the doctoral level to create a strong link around them. a shared theme, between education and research.

These Institutes are intended to promote and bring out interdisciplinary practices through new inter-unit and inter-component collaborations.

Their objectives are to train new generations of scientists, to increase the visibility and attractiveness of the Aix-Marseille site to students, teachers-researchers and researchers at the national and international levels and to assert its potential with socio-economic partners.

Project summary

Achieved alone or collectively, creativity - and the possible innovations that result from it - is an experiential and intellectual activity, taking place in individual or collective situations, whose societal repercussions are considerable or even major. From scientific discoveries to cultural creations to all the transformations of the everyday life of individuals (for example, communication methods, design and arts, fun activities, means of transport, health maintenance techniques), creativity is crucial for adaptation of the human being to his environment and, conversely, to the adaptation of the environment to the expectations and needs of the human being. It is often essential for the improvement of the living conditions and even the pleasure to live of the latter.

This Institute, focused on creativity and innovation, conducts research and training activities on these themes, whether learning to carry out creative activities in learning institutions and / or mobilizing creative skills in order to implement them as effectively as possible in work or health contexts, or in various technological and / or artistic contexts.

This Institute contributes to support an issue of scientific but also social progress. Creativity specialists collaborate with innovation specialists as well as specialists in the areas of application considered. These collaborations make it possible to understand a process starting from the emergence of ideas (with the aim of identifying the conditions that favor creativity) and continuing until the development and marketing of innovations. The fields of expertise of the members of the institute are thus combined and enriched because of the multidisciplinary approach developed.

Understanding the mechanisms and factors involved in creativity and innovation has tangible benefits in terms of methods and tools for helping creativity and methods of managing innovation. The knowledge resulting from this work is intended to be used to support the implementation of integrative approaches to creativity and innovation, leading to the development and implementation of innovations in the fields of health, education or work.
