One more step in the construction of the European university CIVIS : creation of the Open Lab Aix-Marseille Université
Thursday 9 September from 5:30 pm
Siège du Pharo - 58 boulevard Charles Livon 13007 Marseille - Amphithéâtre Gastaut - On invitation / PASS SANITAIRE OBLIGATOIRE

Widely open to the world and committed to the construction of the European civic university CIVIS, of which it is the leader alongside 8 universities, Aix-Marseille Université is taking a new step by creating its CIVIS Open Lab, thus strengthening the link between the university, socio-economic partners and civil society.
Éric Berton, President of Aix-Marseille Université and his governance team will inaugurate this Open Lab in the presence of Valérie Caraguel, head of the Open Lab and actors from the socio-economic world.

The European civic university CIVIS brings together 9 European universities sharing values and a common vision for the future of higher education in Europe.
Emblematic of its societal anchorage, the CIVIS Open Labs allow to establish a bridge between universities and civil society thanks to the creation of spaces of meeting and collaboration between these various actors. Each of the universities of the alliance will have launched its Open Lab by the end of the year and given birth to projects intended to federate the partners around concrete actions to make the European university live.
Aix-Marseille Université is fully involved in this process by launching its CIVIS Open Lab, a place for joint reflection and co-creation of projects between its university community, local players and civil society in order to experiment with local solutions in response to the major societal issues of the day.
Several highlights will punctuate this official launch:

  • Opening speech
  • Speeches by 3 actors from the socio-economic world, members of the CIVIS local advisory board
  • Presentation of the 4 projects selected at the end of the first call for projects launched last March on the development of service learning, the appropriation of new tools for urban mobilization, collective intelligence for and by citizens, and digital transformation
  • Presentation of the second call for local projects and the international centralized call between the CIVIS Open Labs aiming at networking project leaders from at least three CIVIS territories
  • Presentation of the European dimension of the CIVIS Open Labs network by Jose Luis Pau, Open Labs coordinator.
  • Conclusion

Upstream, the Local Consultative Council of CIVIS composed of important socio-economic partners of the territory will meet for the very first time in order to exchange on the strategy and the CIVIS activities at the local level. Its members include the cities of Marseille and Aix-en-Provence, the Southern Region, companies, museums, and the CISAM - Aix-Marseille Innovation City.
