Objectives

In order to make interdisciplinarity a factor of innovation, efficiency and quality for research, teaching and innovation, and to respond to societal challenges, and to contribute to the evolution of AMU towards a learning organization, the Mission for Interdisciplinarity has set four main strategic objectives that guide its action:

1) To share a global approach to interdisciplinarity adapted to AMU's priorities, by creating synergies between transformative projects that are starting up, and by concretely declining the interdisciplinary strategy wherever relevant to enrich new projects,

2) Remove the structural obstacles to interdisciplinarity by implementing an integrated approach at the University, by experimenting with facilitating and incentive practices (grants, bonuses, recruitment of interdisciplinary profiles, valuing interdisciplinary theses, integration into career progression, etc.)

3) Provide concrete support for the implementation of interdisciplinary projects by the community, in particular by encouraging interaction between disciplines, and by defining milestones and tools for evaluating and measuring the impact of interdisciplinary integration,

4) Capitalize, model, enhance and disseminate good practices within AMU and among our partners, to allow the structuring of a community of interdisciplinary practices.

These four objectives are complementary and the originality of the Mission lies in the will to deal with them simultaneously, in a systemic way. They have been targeted in order to maximize the Mission's added value as a complement to existing interdisciplinary actions. Their level of achievement will be measured each year, from a "reflexive" perspective inspired by the quality approach: the aim is to act on reality as much as to observe it.
