O'JAZZ AMU - The Big Band of AMU

In 2016, Aix-Marseille Université created, with Marseille Jazz of the Five Continents, a completely Jazz orchestra, made up of students from all the University's components and staff members. This is an ambitious initiative which places the project in line with the great American or Anglo-Saxon universities. The Orchestra accompanies all major university events and is a showcase for the AMU spirit in France and abroad.

"The year 2022 is shaping up to be an exciting one!
Despite the difficulties of such a special year, the musicians of O'JAZZ AMU have been working passionately in 2021 to prepare a concert tour organized by the Marseille Jazz Festival of the Five Continents, on excellent arrangements by Malo Mazurié around Louis Armstrong.
The year 2022 promises to be just as exciting with the discovery of new concert venues - such as the Artplexe or the 6MIC -, a programme revisiting the work of Charles Mingus or a great collaboration with OSAMU around symphonic jazz. The superb team that makes up this orchestra, from AMU and the jazz department of the Marseille Conservatory, is happily setting out on the jazz road again!"
