A publishing house and two brands PUP and PUAM, the framework of a history

The primary vocation of the University Press is to disseminate the research work of AMU as well as that of other universities, and to promote the excellence of scientific production at a national and even international level. For more than forty years, PUP and PUAM have been publishing academic works, respectively in the field of humanities and hard sciences(PUP) and legal sciences (PUAM). Their works are aimed at teacher-researchers, students, professionals and any public interested in the issues addressed.

As a showcase for know-how, they are an invaluable tool for promoting institutions and a symbol of quality: of the top 100 universities in the Shanghai ranking, 90 have university presses with a worldwide reputation. Behind the university presses of Rennes, the university presses of Aix-Marseille are the most dynamic and productive in France. This productivity is never to the detriment of quality, with equal attention paid to the scientific requirements in the selection of manuscripts and to the aesthetic and material characteristics of the book object.

The scientific interest shown in their work and the support they receive throughout the production process is greatly appreciated by the authors of the Presses, who do not find the same close relationship elsewhere.

Attentive to the evolution and demands of readers, the Presses cooperate with CLEO for the online publication of journals(journals.openedition.org), the digitization program of the collection and the publication of digital works(books.openedition.org).

At the origin of the Presses universitaires d'Aix-Marseille Université, two publishing houses

	Les Presses universitaires de Provence (PUP) Associes with the Faculty of Arts, Letters, Languages and Humanities (ALLSH), the PUP has been publishing books and journals dedicated to the humanities for more than 40 years, which have made it famous on the national level. Aimed at a wide audience, their collections have opened up since 2012 to other disciplinary fields, among whichThese include economics and management and the so-called "hard" sciences. The publishing house, which operates like a private publisher, markets its works in France and internationally through a distributor (AFPU-D), the main French distributor of university books, and a distributor (SODIS, a subsidiary of Gallimard).
	The University Press of Aix-Marseille (PUAM) Associated with the Faculty of Law and Political Science and created in 1976, PUAM publishes mainly works in all fields of law, legal history and political science. They produce about fifty works per year: monographs, collective works, legal journals such as the Revue de la Recherche Juridique created more than forty years ago. The PUAMs also offer publications at the crossroads between several disciplines, such as the "Economic Ethics" collection. PUAM's works are sold directly and on site, via specialized booksellers or on the Internet. The two brands, which have gained recognition and notoriety over the years, are now united within a common service and retain their own identity. They have a new showcase: the Maison de la Recherche, on the Aix campus. A place of strong symbolism, where knowledge is created.
