Within the framework of a partnership between the Museum of European and Mediterranean Civilizations (Mucem) and the Institute of Societies in Change in the Mediterranean (SoMuM) of Aix-Marseille University, we are recruiting a post-doctoral researcher as of May 15, 2023, for a 12-month contract, renewable once.

Theme

The postdoctoral project will focus on artistic creation in situations of exile in France. It will propose to define and implement a survey-collection articulating studies and fieldwork, in order to gather acquisitions of works and everyday objects, accompanied by archives, first-hand documentation and interviews that contextualize them. The aim is not so much to retrace life itineraries as to analyze the conditions of artistic production in the context of exile: material, legal, administrative, political, economic, and social conditions of creation in the worlds of the visual arts.

Expected profile

The call is open to all disciplines in the humanities and social sciences.
The candidate must hold a doctorate of less than 4 years and have significant experience in the realization of field surveys and in the interdisciplinary approach. Experience in publishing will be particularly appreciated.
