Principles and objectives of the "International" call for projects

The A*Midex Foundation, Initiative of Excellence of the Aix-Marseille site, is launching the second call for "International" projects, the aim of which is to encourage and support the development of international collaborations - outside the Mediterranean area - with privileged partners in the fields of training, research and innovation.

The objectives of this call are to :

  • Supporting sustainable and ambitious international research partnerships
  • Strengthen the international influence of the Aix-Marseille site and promote its expertise in doctoral training and research.
  • Support the research teams of the Aix Marseille site to progress in international reference rankings and to improve their visibility in international reference publications.

The call for projects is intended to help support large-scale projects that will be subject to an annual assessment to identify the impacts and effects induced for the Aix-Marseille site. The projects must fall within the priority thematic areas of A*Midex: Humanities, Life and Health Sciences, Advanced Sciences and Technologies, Environment, Energies, and be carried out by scientific teams from the Aix-Marseille site.

For this 2018 call for projects, the structuring and strengthening of international cooperation on the Aix-Marseille site are the two strategic priorities. They are implemented through the following 3 targeted actions:

  • Support for international research, development & innovation projects with high strategic potential
  • Development of summer schools of international scope
  • Supporting the internationalisation of the Humanities through translation support

Project leaders must position themselves on one of these 3 actions.

Funding

The funding requested will have to take into account the real needs of the projects. A budget envelope of 2. 500.000€ is foreseen for the 2018 call, distributed as follows:

  • 2,000,000 for share 1
  • 250,000 for share 2
  • 250,000 for share 3

The IDEX Fund is intended to provide financial support for the development of a project, but is not intended to ensure sustainable operation. At the end of this support, the supported initiatives will have to find an autonomous means of financing.
