Vision and Strategy: A Strong Commitment from amU
Aix-Marseille University has an ambitious strategy and a strong political commitment to open science. This vision is reflected in:
- An Open Science Charter, which sets forth the principles guiding its institutional policy
- An operational roadmap to put these principles into practice through targeted actions.
- A charter for the authorship of scientific publications, ensuring the visibility and proper attribution of the work of amU researchers.
- Endorsement of the Barcelona Declaration, affirming its support for a more responsible evaluation of research (HRS4R).
- The signing of the CoARA agreement (Research Evaluation Reform)
CoARA - Coalition for Advancing Research Assessment
CoARA is a European initiative aimed at shifting research assessment toward more qualitative and responsible approaches.
In France, its national chapter, co-led by amU and Inserm, brings together research stakeholders to share best practices and support the implementation of commitments. As a forum for dialogue and collaboration, it promotes a more equitable recognition of the diversity of scientific activities and outcomes.

amU’s commitments to open science are part of a comprehensive strategic framework, consistent with national guidelines (the Digital Republic Act, the National Strategy for Open Science) and international guidelines (UNESCO recommendations, Plan S, the Paris and Jussieu Calls, DORA). They also meet the requirements of European programs such as Horizon Europe.
