1. Description

The French Language Proficiency Test is a national French language proficiency certification issued by France Education International. It enables non-French speakers to have their knowledge of French assessed and validated quickly and easily. It acts as a snapshot of an individual’s language skills at a given point in their life and is valid for two years.

The test consists of:

  • 3 compulsory sections (MCQ, Multiple-Choice Questions):
listening comprehension, command of language structures, reading comprehension.
  • 2 supplementary (optional) sections:
    written expression, oral expression.

The results obtained in the TCF place candidates on the Council of Europe’s six-level scale*, from level A1 to level C2

Further information can be found in the candidate’s handbook opposite and on the France Education International website.
