International Student Exchange Program (ISEP)

Introducing

ISEP (International Student Exchange Program) is a non-profit organization founded in 1979, which manages a worldwide network of over 300 universities in more than 50 countries. Aix Marseille Université is a member of this network, and offers its students the opportunity to go on exchange via two formulas: ISEP Exchange and ISEP Direct.

1. ISEP Direct is an exchange program that guarantees students a place at the university of their choice, as long as they meet the university's prerequisites. This is a more expensive program than ISEP Exchange, as it includes payment of tuition fees at the host university. For more information, please consult this page.

2. ISEP Exchange is a fee-paying international exchange program that enables students to spend a semester or year studying abroad at a partner university without having to pay the host university's tuition fees. Students pay a semester-long fee covering accommodation and meals on site.

Eligibility requirements

  • Be enrolled in a Licence 3 or Master's program during the mobility period
  • Have a good academic and linguistic level
  • Meet the specific requirements of the chosen universities

Search for universities

Go to the ISEP website and click on "Start a search". Indicate your home university: Aix Marseille Université. You can then filter the universities according to your level and field of study, as well as your preferred geographical area. Don't forget to check ISEP Direct or ISEP Exchange!

On each university page, you'll find the language and/or academic prerequisites, the list of available courses and the "Chance of placement". This "Chance of placement" is calculated by the usual number of applications in relation to the number of places available: from "Excellent" to "Most competitive".

You must select between 3 and 5 universities, including a maximum of one "Most competitive" university and at least one "Good" or "Excellent" university. Placement is carried out by an algorithm based on your order of preference and the number of places available.

Application

Step 1: Selection by amU

  • Complete the application form on the MoveOn portal before the deadline
  • Mention ISEP as wish n°1
  • List between 3 and 5 ISEP universities

Step 2: ISEP application

  • If you are selected by amU, you must then submit your application on the ISEP portal.
  • An algorithm will assign you to one of the chosen universities, according to your preferences and availability.

Please note : once you've been assigned by the algorithm, it's difficult to change your university of assignment. You should therefore only list universities that interest you and where you would really like to study.

Program cost

The cost of ISEP Exchange includes the application and placement fees (525€ non-refundable), the semester package covering accommodation and meals (3700€ per semester) and the compulsory ISEPmedical insurance(details here).
