Aix Marseille Université awarded 3-star "Welcome to France" label

At the heart of our success: a wide range of facilities for international students

Following the award of the Bienvenue en France seed fund, the DRI created a new Welcome and Attractiveness department in 2021. The newly-formed team, working in close collaboration with all the DRIs on campus and the IR Departments in the various departments, has been working hard to refine and perfect the range of services available to international students, whether on individual or supervised mobility programs.

Today, each of these two groups of international students is offered support prior to their arrival in France, during their studies at amU and after graduation:

  • All the information they need to prepare their stay in France can be found on the university website.
  • amU Prep'Days: a series of 6 webinars covering all the information you need to know to prepare your stay in France.
  • A thematic Help Desk accessible online, designed to help students with any questions they may have.
  • On-campus, multi-service welcome desks, for personalized assistance all year round.

They also benefit from a whole ecosystem of services open to all amU students.

But beyond the services strictly reserved for international students, they also benefit from the modernity of student life at amU and the possibility of finding their place and the support they may need.

In this respect, the Service Universitaire de Santé Etudiante (SSE), where some of the medical staff are able to receive students in English, is particularly appreciated, as is the Étudiants Relais-Santé network and the SPRE. amU's inclusive approach to disability issues is also an asset, particularly the Mission Handicap and the Sport & Handicap program.

We can also mention tools such as the Pacte'AMU for access to culture, the bonus commitment for DDRSE projects, access to French as a Foreign Language (FLE) courses and the diversity of digital tools offered at Aix Marseille Université.

Finally, our institution's ongoing commitment to providing collective responses to the various global crises of our time underscores the strong political support that underpins the vitality of our university. Examples include the total exemption of Ukrainian and Lebanese students from tuition fees, the continued welcome extended to international students in times of pandemic, and the creation of a bridging University Diploma (DU) for refugee students.

It is therefore with confidence that amU has been awarded its three stars for the coming years, while remaining aware of the progress still to be made. The International Relations Office (DRI) has set itself the priority objective of strengthening local links with users, as close to them as possible, on campus. The Maison de l'Etudiant, a major institutional project with which it is associated, also illustrates the university's determination to place student well-being at the heart of its priorities.
