Since its creation, Aix-Marseille University (AMU) has been open to the international scene. Today, it is the largest French-speaking university in the world and has 80,000 students, including 10,000 international students.

Aix-Marseille University is a research-intensive university of international standing. 130 research structures linked to major national organizations, 12 doctoral schools, hospital centers and 15 interdisciplinary institutes are the gateways between research and training. AMU places particular emphasis on five major fields: energy; environmental and universal sciences; life and health sciences; advanced sciences and technologies; and human and social sciences .
The dynamism of its research enables it to have more than 3,400 doctoral students, 39.5% of whom are international and come from over 100 countries.
For its commitment to sustainable development
Aware of environmental issues, AMU has made a political commitment to develop a Sustainable Development strategy. Approximately 1/3 of its research structures work in an interdisciplinary manner on this theme in order to provide concrete answers. Students at AMU also play a major role in the construction and implementation of this policy. Each year, AMU promotes cross-disciplinary and multidisciplinary educational projects that integrate notions of sustainable development and social responsibility by AMU students through the SD in TRANS'. For its dynamic student life
Thanks to the diversity of services offered by the university, students can take full advantage of their university stay at AMU. The university offers a range of cultural activities open to all(Printemps des associations, Festiv'AMU, the student ball, the OSAMU symphony orchestra, the Jazz band, etc.) and promotes access to culture for all by allowing its students to obtain additional discounts within the region's cultural structures.
Each AMU student can also lead a well-developed sports life thanks to the offer of more than 80 physical activities to which they have free access.
Finally, they can also take part in student association life thanks to the more than 160 student associations present on the university's various campuses.
