Interdisciplinarity is a key factor in innovation. The great diversity of skills of the Aix-Marseille site makes it a suitable place for the implementation of interdisciplinary approaches and projects. The university and its partners have therefore set up Interdisciplinary and Intersectoral Research Poles to encourage the emergence of new collaborations at the interfaces of disciplines.
Interdisciplinary and Intersectoral Poles of Research (PR2I)
In order to promote interdisciplinary exchanges between members of the various research structures of the Aix-Marseille site, and thus to stimulate and promote innovative projects to meet major societal challenges, the University has created five Interdisciplinary and Intersectoral Research Poles (PR2I).
- Advanced Science & Technology
- Health & Life Sciences
Relying on the strong skills of the units, the coordinators of these PR2Is set up actions to encourage the emergence of interdisciplinary research on themes with strong scientific, societal or commercialization potential.
The Institutes of the Aix-Marseille site
These institutes bring together all or part of the activities of different research units around an interdisciplinary theme or whose vocation is to develop interdisciplinary collaborations at the interfaces. In particular, they are intended to establish a strong link between training and research in order to train new generations of scientists who are open to interdisciplinary approaches.
Foundation of the University of Aix-Marseille, theIMéRA is an Institute of Advanced Studies. It welcomes researchers and artists in residence to develop research at the interfaces and contribute to the emergence and development of world-class interdisciplinary research approaches. IMéRA positions itself as the Mediterranean exploratory of interdisciplinarity.
