The Instituts Convergences (IC) action relating to the Investments for the Future programme PIA 2- wave1 (« Programme des Investissements d'Avenir ») is a pioneering mechanism in terms of linking research and education in an interdisciplinary approach. The Instituts Convergences aim to structure multidisciplinary scientific sites to respond to major issues, at the crossroads of societal and economic challenges.
Aix-Marseille Université is a laureate of 2 Instituts Convergences in 2016, CENTURI and ILCB. They are endowed respectively with €21M and €8.8M co-financed by the Investments for the Future programme (« Programme des Investissements d'Avenir ») and the A*Midex Foundation, for a period of 10 years (from 28 January 2017 to 30 November 2025).
Coordinated by Professor Thomas Lecuit, this project aims to structure innovative interdisciplinary research on the dynamics of living systems, combining developmental studies, neuroscience and immunity. CENTURI brings together 48 research groups on the Aix-Marseille Université - Luminy Campus, in biology, physics, computer science and mathematics, as well as many platforms.
Alongside Aix-Marseille Université, the consortium's partner institutions are the CNRS, Inserm and Ecole Centrale Marseille (ECM).
Coordinated by Professor Philippe Blache, this project aims to bring together the different actors of Aix-Marseille in the field of the study of the brain bases of language, in order to understand the processing of language, its neural bases and to draw applications in health, education and communication through 10 research units and 6 experimental platforms.
Alongside Aix-Marseille Université, the consortium's partner institutions are the CNRS, Inserm and the University of Avignon and the Pays du Vaucluse.
