Grants: Incoming students in individual mobility

Two types of scholarships are available to international students at Aix-Marseille University. These scholarships are very selective and require an excellent and well anticipated application.

These grants are awarded in consultation with the AMU grant coordination service (the International Relations Department or the A*midex Foundation) and the course director. Before starting any procedure, find out about the course you wish to apply for and identify the course director in the Course Catalogue

The Eiffel Excellence Scholarships

The Eiffel scholarships are financed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. They are a mechanism to encourage excellent academic profiles to come to France to study at master's and doctoral level.
Aix-Marseille University carries out a pre-selection of candidates, then transmits the selection made to Campus France, which in turn finalizes the selection process and awards the scholarship.

The eligible fields for Master's and Doctorate to apply for this scholarship are

Science and Technology

Humanities and Social Sciences
Biology and Health History, French language and civilization
Ecological transition Law, Political Science
Mathematics and Numeracy Economics and Management
Engineering Sciences  

Foreign students who wish to apply for an Eiffel scholarship should not apply directly to Campus France but through the university.


To prepare their application, candidates will need the following documents

  • Master's level: CV, transcripts, professional project and if necessary language certificate.
  • Doctorate level: CV, transcripts, professional project, certificate of co-direction or co-supervision agreement.

Mobility grants from the Initiative of Excellence (A*Midex)

The Student Mobility Grant scheme of the Excellence Initiative is coordinated by the A*Midex Foundation. These grants are intended to encourage international student mobility and the hosting of international students at Aix-Marseille University.
Candidates for this scholarship must meet the academic and linguistic criteria required by the teaching staff of the course they are applying for at Aix-Marseille University. The A*Midex scholarship concerns internship or study periods of at least 2 months.

Please note: A*midex mobility grants are awarded for courses that have won the A*midex initiative of excellence . Please contact the person in charge of the course for which you are applying. The person in charge will tell you if this grant is applicable to you and will have to examine your application.
