Experiments

In an increasingly complex but high-potential landscape, the development of interdisciplinarity and transdisciplinarity has been identified as a key success factor for the positioning of Aix-Marseille Université by 2030. The A*Midex foundation is cultivating this exploratory ambition through a number of precursory measures and new synergies, with a view to strengthening the University's sense of belonging.

INSTITUTIONS TO DRIVE INTERDISCIPLINARY DYNAMICS

From 2019 to 2022, 20 institutes have been created animated and financed by A*Midex. Building on existing Masters programs and doctoral schools, the institutes aim to develop a culture of interdisciplinary training, both through and for research, by involving socio-economic partners in the training offer developed by the institute.

Since 2019, Aix-Marseille Université and its partners have been committed to the creation of interdisciplinary Instituts d'établissement in addition to the labeling of two Convergences Institutes 2017 - 2025 (CenTuri, ILCB) and two Écoles Universitaires de Recherche 2018-2027 (nEURo*AMU, AMSE).

These new Institutes, led and funded by A*Midex, bring together research teams from one or more research units and Master's and Doctorate-level training courses from one or more components.

This dynamic creates a strong link around a shared theme, linking training and research.

Interdisciplinarity call for projects to encourage innovative interdisciplinary approaches

L'call for "Interdisciplinarity" projectscall for projects, launched in 2021 and financed and coordinated by A*Midex, supports Aix-Marseille's Instituts d'établissement in their efforts to structure and lead interdisciplinary communities.

The common objectives of the winning projects are to:

  • Implement an interdisciplinary research project that responds to major scientific and societal challenges
  • Bring scientific audacity and the resolution of new questions through interdisciplinarity
  • Be part of the overall interdisciplinary strategy for the Aix-Marseille site.

The Equipment program to support research projects on the Aix-Marseille site

Visit Equipment" program program enables research units, components and institutes on the Aix-Marseille site to carry out their research and training projects using complex, state-of-the-art equipment. It complements national programs (Équipements Structurants pour la Recherche (ESR) and EquipEx+ 2021) and the Contrat de Plan Etat-Région (CPER) for the period 2021-2027.

The main aim of the call is to support research units on the Aix-Marseille site wishing to acquire new structuring equipment designed to develop and strengthen their capacity to implement their research programs.

Scientific mediation to disseminate, share and animate a community of knowledge

The A*Midex Foundation contributes to the enhancement of projects through dissemination and appropriation actions aimed at the Aix-Marseille scientific community and the general public.

The A*Midex "Experimenting with the future" audiovisual collection

The aim of these films is to raise awareness of the research and training projects supported by the A*Midex foundation, and to highlight their transformative effect and interdisciplinary quality. They give a voice to project leaders to promote the content and progress of their work to the scientific community and the general public.
