Stefan ENOCH

Director of the Institute

Stefan Enoch obtained his PhD in 1997. He became a lecturer at Aix-Marseille University in 1998 and joined the CNRS in 2001. Director of Research at CNRS, he was Director of the Fresnel Institute, a research unit of Aix-Marseille University, CNRS and Centrale Marseille, from January 2012 to December 2019. Stefan Enoch's research combines fundamental and applied research. He has published more than 130 research papers in international journals, and has given more than 40 invited and plenary presentations at various conferences. His publications have been cited over 10,000 times and his h-index is 46 (source Google Scholar). His work focuses on the properties of metamaterials and their applications, particularly for medical imaging. He leads the FET-OPEN M-CUBE project which aims to develop a new antenna technology using metamaterials for Ultra High Field MRI (10 partners including 2 SMEs and a budget of 3.9 million euros). He is a member of the editorial board of the Journal of Modern Optics and was associate editor of Optics Express from 2004 to 2012. He received the CNRS Bronze Medal in 2006 and Aix-Marseille Innovation Prize (Researcher category) in 2019. He is a member of the European Academy of Sciences (2019) and a fellow of the Optical Society of America (2020).

Monique BERNARD

Deputy Director of Research

Monique Bernard obtained her PhD in 1983 at the University of Aix-Marseille. She joined the CNRS in Marseille in 1985. She was a researcher at Harvard Medical School from 1989 to 1990, and since then has been at the CRMBM (Centre de Résonance Magnétique Biologique et Médicale) where she is in charge of the cardiovascular group. Her research interests are focused on the study of metabolic, physiological and functional alterations in cardiovascular pathologies related to diffuse or localized ischemia (cardiomyopathy (diabetes, obesity), transplantation...) using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and spectroscopy (MRS, 31P, 23Na and 1H). She has published 145 original papers and 15 book chapters. Since 2012, she is director of the CRMBM and coordinator of the Marseille node of the France Life Imaging infrastructure. She is involved in various institutional committees at the local level (Scientific Committee of the Faculty of Medical and Paramedical Sciences, Carnot Star Institute) and at the national level (France Life Imaging, Ligue contre le Cancer, National Institute of Health Technologies "ITMO Technologies for Health", CNRS National Committee (President of Section 28 "Pharmacology-Engineering and Health Technologies-Biomedical Imaging", 2016-2021).

Marc-Emmanuel BELLEMARE

Deputy Director of Training

Marc-Emmanuel BELLEMARE, former student of the ENS de Cachan (Paris-Saclay), obtained his PhD "Navigation in three-dimensional medical imaging: Application to virtual vascular endoscopy" in January 2000 at the University of Rennes 1 in the field of signal processing and telecommunications. Currently, he is a lecturer in image processing at Aix-Marseille University, and is responsible for the SIBIOM course of the Master in signal and image processing at Aix-Marseille University. His research interests are in the field of medical imaging within the Computer Science and Systems Laboratory (LIS) UMR 7020. In particular, his current activity concerns dynamic 3D pelvic imaging and deep learning methods for medical image analysis. He has participated in several national collaborative research projects in the field of computer assisted surgery as principal investigator or task leader. He has supervised 5 PhD students 15 research masters. He is a member of the SIPAIM foundation and a reviewer for international conferences and journals such as IEEE EMBC, IEEE BHI, SIPAIM, CAD, Artificial Intelligence in Medicine, Journal of MRI, Journal of Biomechanics, Journal Engineering Science and Technology: an International Journal... He has acted as an expert for several structures such as ANR (aap tecsan), canceropole Grand-Est, Tec de Monterrey, IC Star... and for selection committees of AMU and Toulon universities.

Cécile LAVOUTE

Project Manager of the Institute

Cécile LAVOUTE obtained a PhD in Integrated Physiology under Extreme Conditions at Aix Marseille University in 2007 under the supervision of the Institute of Naval Medicine of the Army Health Service (IMNSSA). After an ATER position (2005-2007) in Technical Sciences of Physical and Sports Activities and a post-doctorate AMU/IMNSSA in the field of hyperbaric medicine (nitrogen narcosis and hyperoxia), Cécile LAVOUTE joined in 2010 the Assistance Publique des Hôpitaux de Marseille (APHM) as Chief Hospital Engineer in the Cardiology department of Pr HABIB. In charge of industrial and institutional clinical research as well as the Cardiomyopathy Competence Centre, she has conducted numerous collaborations with the radiology, nuclear medicine, genetics, infectiology, biology and haematology departments. Her experience in Clinical Research continued in the Clinical Pharmacology Department of Prof. BLIN with a Phase 1 clinical study on healthy volunteers "First in man". She was then put at the disposal of the University of Aix-Marseille within the framework of the labeling of the University Hospital Department "Molecular Imaging and Imaging Guided Therapy" of Pr GUEDJ and his assistants Dr Stefan ENOCH and Pr Alexis JACQUIER to animate, manage and organize the DHU whose objective is to boost research and improve the quality of care, by a faster diffusion of innovations.
She will naturally join the Marseille Imaging Institute when it is created in September 2019.
