Cultural and Creative Industries at the heart of societal transformations

The sphere of arts, culture and creation covers heterogeneous organizations and activities, with varied artistic, economic and social logics. Whether they are industrial, artisanal or hybrid, these activities all include aesthetic, artistic and intellectual creation at the origin of their production process.

Generating multidimensional value (artistic, economic, social, civic), ICC (Cultural and Creative Industries) are at the heart of the dynamics of societal transformation based on the creation and circulation of content. Overflowing beyond traditional sectoral boundaries, they offer a space for experimenting with co-creation practices, fertilized by the cross-fertilization of disciplines, skills and actors.

Accompanying the development of ICC and strengthening their societal impact necessarily implies crossing disciplinary approaches and facilitating the structuring of ecosystems that bring together the skills of players in education, research and the socio-economic world. In this context, Aix Marseille University (AMU) has a rich potential for designing and piloting interdisciplinary training and research projects on a regional, national or international scale. The Mission for interdisciplinarity in the field of ICC, in connection with the CISAM + and KIC projects, the departements for "Culture and Society" and "Scientific and Technical Culture", and AMU involved in this field departments, will therefore aim to :

  • map, interlink and enhance AMU's various resources and initiatives in theICC field : research units, training departements, infrastructures and support platforms, sets of cultural and creative artistic practices ;
  • create opportunities for teachers, researchers and students from different disciplines and departments to collaborate on case studies and concrete research and/or training projects in an inter-sectoral dynamic;
  • support the incubation and development of innovative cultural and creative projects carried out by teachers, researchers and students or young graduates in the ICC fields.
