Calls for Proposals

By relying on a long local tradition of interdisciplinary exchanges within the perimeter of Aix-Marseille University, our laboratories reaffirm every day their ability to decompartmentalize research to build a common reflection on the co-construction of environments and societies, and their strong capacity to project themselves onto Mediterranean terrains. The Institute's challenge is to structure this dynamic by imposing it within a systemic framework that will be the basis of a Mediterranean mastery of archaeological issues, with the ambition of :

• To create synergies between all the disciplinary fields involved in archaeology on the AMU site and which can rely locally on high level technical platforms;
• To train the professionals who will intervene in the scientific and administrative fields of Mediterranean research to study, enhance and protect the archaeological heritage;
• Position the AMU site as a leader in the Mediterranean field and formalise a network of close links with the countries of the northern and southern shores, by training researchers and students in this dynamic.

In 2020, three funding tools are made available to the members of the Institute to support this ambition and to support research and training actions.

Starter 2020 / Purpose: To support the project: support the emergence of research in one of the 5 scientific axes of the Institute and accompany the structuring of a network of partners in order to respond to a high-level scientific call for projects. The participation of two member laboratories of the Institute is a mandatory minimum. Duration : Duration : 18 months (October 2020 - March 2022). Amount : 10 000 € maximum. Deadline: June 15, 2020. Interdisciplinary action 2020 / Objective: To support a clearly identified scientific action, carried out by at least two laboratories, limited in time, and carried out in the field, in the laboratory or in archives. This scheme aims to encourage synergies and promote the skills and equipment of the teams within the Institute. Period: Expenditure may be incurred from July 2020 to June 2021. Amount : 2 000 €. Mobility towards the Mediterranean lands 2020 / Objective: to support the deployment of Aix-Marseille University students on the Institute's grounds internationally AND/OR to attract students from foreign partner institutions on the Institute's grounds, in France and abroad. Period : Expenditure can be committed from July 2020 to December 2020 (can be postponed according to the evolution of the health situation). Amount: 1 500 € / operation. Deadline: May 31, 2020.
