Travelling to Marseille or Aix-en-Provence from Paris

There are two international airports in Paris: Roissy Charles-de -Gaulle and Orly. There is a shuttle bus every half hour between both airports and the centre of Paris. There are direct flights to Marseille-Provence from both airports.

From Paris, there are three ways to get to the cities of Marseille and Aix-en-Provence from Paris.

1. By plane
   Duration of the flight: 1h15
   Marseille Provence Airport

2. By TGV (High Speed Train operated by the SNCF - French National Railway Company)
   The TGV stations for high speed trains to the South of France are located :
   At Terminal 2 of Roissy Charles-de-Gaulle airport and
   In the centre of Paris at the Gare de Lyon train station (reachable via RER A and D) or via metro, lines 1 and 14. Please visit the Paris public transport website RATP.
   
   Duration of the trip:
   Paris < > Aix TGV station (15 minutes from the city center of Aix-en-Provence) : 3h00
   Paris < > Marseille Saint Charles train station (city center of Marseille) : 3h10
   
   Fares:
   The purchase of a TGV ticket is compulsory. Fares vary greatly depending on the period. The earlier you book your ticket, the cheaper it will cost. Tickets can be purchased at the station, in a travel agency or on the internet: www.oui.sncf.fr or www.ouigo.com.

3. By bus
   The bus journey time is much longer but the fares are very attractive.
   Two companies serve Aix-en-Provence and Marseille: Blabla Bus and Flixbus.

   Paris < > Bus station Marseille Saint Charles : 12h minimum 

The duration of a trip Paris < > Aix / Marseille by TGV or by plane is almost the same if you consider the time for check-in and security at the airport and the greater distance between the airport and the centers of Aix and Marseille from the TGV station.
