Aix-Marseille Université, the CNRS and the Société Mathématique de France are pleased to invite you to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Centre international de rencontres mathématiques during the institutional day on Wednesday, October 13, 2021 at 2:00 pm at the CIRM-Luminy.

Under the supervision of Aix-Marseille Université, the CNRS and the French Mathematical Society, with the solid support of the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation, the LabEx Carmin, the Archimede Institute, the Southern Region and the City of Marseille, the CIRM has been, for nearly 40 years, a tool of excellence at the service of the French and international mathematical community. The CIRM brings together more than 4,500 researchers from all over the world each year to spend a week or more in a unique place, created for them, to exchange, transmit and advance their research and science.
Its residential character, the richness of the mathematics it hosts and its annual number of visitors make this "Villa Médicis des Maths", located on the Luminy campus in Marseille, one of the most important world centres dedicated to the discipline.

A two-day programme for all

This anniversary is an opportunity to address all the CIRM's audiences. To its supervisory bodies, its partners, the members of its board of directors and scientific council, the scientific community, the mathematics students of Aix-Marseille Université and the high schools of the Aix-Marseille Academy.
Finally, the CIRM must open up more to the general public, participate in the understanding of the world through mathematics, and give a taste for science to the youth, which is why we have the pleasure of inviting you to this ceremony so that you can echo it.
