The ITEM Institute, dedicated to the environmental transition, offers high-level equipment, observation systems and technological platforms to support its scientific and educational expertise. These are accessible to all in the various laboratories of the institute, discover them below.
PLATFORMS | USES | DESCRIPTIONS |
EQUIPEX ASTER |
ASTER comprises three complementary instrumentation components that constitute a unique experimental set-up at the international level: Tracing and isotopic dating (ICP-MC-MS), absolute dating by cosmogenic nuclides: 14C (MICADAS accelerator mass spectrometer), 10Be, 26Al, 36Cl (accelerator mass spectrometer). |
EQUIPEX NANO- ID |
Detection, localization, quantification and speciation of inorganic elements, textural and structural evolution of materials. (X-ray micro and nano-tomography, X-ray fluorescence micro-spectroscopy, HERMES (High X-ray Energy Resolution Microscope for Environmental Sciences) prototype, T-XRF) |
MASSALYA |
Real-time physical and chemical characterization of aerosols and volatile organic compounds (VOC) precursors (LAAPToF, PTR-ToF-MS, HR-ToF-AMS, TAG-AMS, MAAP, SMPS ...) thanks to the instruments embarked on the MASSALYA van. Partner laboratory: LCE |
Air+" station (Marseille 5 Avenues) |
In partnership with AtmoSud, the Air+ station gathers a set of instruments allowing the precise description of the physico-chemical properties of the particles on the long term and with high temporal resolution. Monitoring of many pollutants beyond regulatory requirements, including specific aspects of fine particles. Partner laboratory: LCE |
LASIF (Large Air-Sea Interaction Facility) |
Unique infrastructure consisting of a water tank forming a test section several tens of metres long and a fan generating powerful winds. This is a unique device for conducting fundamental and applied research in the field of air-sea exchanges and in classical and environmental fluid dynamics. Partner laboratory: MIO |
Phytotec |
IBISA labelled platform (BIAM, Cadarache) for plant experiments under controlled conditions for industry and research. |
PRECYM |
Specialized in the individual analysis of micro-organisms: identification, sorting, enumeration, physiology, viability, activities. Labelled by the GIS IBiSA, the Pôle Mer, and the Technological Platform of the University of Aix-Marseille. Partner laboratory: MIO |
Ship Antedon II |
The Antedon II, a station ship over 10 m long, is part of the "French Oceanographic Fleet" joint service unit. This ship is dedicated to coastal oceanographic activities. It carries out long-term observation missions on permanent study sites and supports scientific projects in the region around Marseille (Toulon-Rhône). It benefits from a large SAM (Service Atmosphère Mer) oceanography instrumental park at MIO. Partner laboratory: MIO |
OPEU Multidisciplinary Observatory of the Urban Environment in Marseille. |
Multidisciplinary Observatory of the Urban Environment since 2012 in order to study the urban territory and the contradictory logics that can apply to it.OPEU uses different disciplines such as ecology, sociology, human geography and urban planning or climatology, in the interpretation of its results. OPEU also wants to provide a cross-sectional view by incorporating into its database the results of studies from other research programmes (e.g. PIRVE, ANR, PUCA, etc.). This initiative allows a diffusion of knowledge but also a simplified sharing of the data of various experiments carried out within the laboratory and for scientific partners. Partner laboratory: LPED |
Observation and experimental systems/services of OSU Pythéas |
Atmosphere (SNOs ICOS, NDACC, PHOTONS,) marine (SNOs MOOSE, SOMLIT), ecosystems (ICOS Font-Blanche) and in natura (O3HP, CLIMED, ORCHAMP-Ventoux). More information on the OSU Institut Pythéas website. Partner laboratory: OSU Institut Pythéas |
