The SUPFLES spirit

"The specificity of training is to develop skills, and that of professionalization rather to develop the skill to develop skills"

1. SUPFLES Presentation

The SUPFLES (Stages Universitaires de Professionnalisation en FLE/S) was created in 2018 by the SUL (former SUFLE) and the FLE Didactics Department of Aix-Marseille University (AMU).

The SUPFLES offers a summer university in Aix-en-Provence, on-site or exported a la carte training and organizes occasional conferences, study days and pedagogical days at AMU.

The SUPFLES aims to deepen reflection in different fields of FLE/S didactics, among FLE/S actors in France and in the world. With a team of experienced trainers, all involved in teaching and/or university research, the SUPFLES relies on a strong articulation between theory and practice.
Our reflection is particularly focused on the theme of creativity in the teaching/learning of FLE/S (critical approach to creativity, creativity of the teacher, of the learner, in teaching, creativity in language, link between creativity and artistic practices, writing, theater, visual arts, creative potential of digital tools, etc.). The diversity of the areas of specialization of our team of trainers, however, allows us to offer internships in other areas.

2. The SUPFLES* audience

- Teachers of FLE or FLS outside of French territory**, whether in a primary, secondary, university, institutional, association or private teaching context.
- Master's students in FLE didactics or, failing that, with proven experience in teaching FLE internationally.

- Teachers of FLE or FLS outside of France**, whether in a primary, secondary, university, institutional, associative or private teaching context.

Specialized teachers

*A C1 level in French is required to be able to follow the training in good conditions
. ** If you are a teacher/student in France, please contact us as the registration cannot be covered by continuing education at this time.

3. The SUPFLES spirit: a dynamic of professionalization

This dynamic is envisaged as a process integrating 4 parallel dimensions:
1. the acquisition of knowledge based on scientific research (knowledge)
. 2. the acquisition of practical skills acquired in the field (savoir-faire)
3. the acquisition of a reflective posture: to reflect on, observe, problematize, objectify, criticize to improve one's practice (savoir analyser)
4. the construction of a professional identity in a given field of activity and integration into a network of professionals (savoir appartenir)

4. The SUPFLES spirit: an "academic" dimension

It is important to us:

- to integrate a theoretical perspective in FLE/S didactics and to offer trainees a framework and theoretical references that are objects of reflection.
- to think of the trainee teacher of FLE/S as a reflective practitioner and to put the emphasis on the analysis of practices: more than proposing a succession of "turnkey" activities, each module aims to give the trainees the means of their autonomy through a step back which will be exemplified and which starts from their experience.

5. Conferences, study days and pedagogical days

In the spirit of SUPFLES, study days and pedagogical days are organized by SUL and the Department of FLE didactics of the University of Aix-Marseille. Gathering actors of the FLE/S from various horizons (researchers, teachers, trainers, pedagogical coordinators, etc.), these meetings aim at supporting the reflection in didactics of the FLE/S by proposing conferences, round tables, etc.
The presentation and the calls for papers of the past days can be downloaded in the archives.

Upcoming event:

  • Conference "Reading and writing between languages: literature, teaching, translation, creation"

15th and 16th of June 2023: within the framework of the LÉEL agreement (Lire et Écrire entre les Langues), SUPFLES is participating in the organisation of the conference "Reading and Writing between Languages: literature, teaching, translation, creation".

This conference is the second part of a scientific reflection already started with the colloquium Écrire entre les langues 2021, supported by AMU (LPL/CNRS), Inalco (Paris), the University of Sorbonne nouvelle (DILTEC) and the University of Angers (CIRPAL), which took place at Inalco (Paris) on 14-15 June 2021. It thus aims to be part of a collective inter-university dynamic around multilingual literary writing. This dynamic is intended to be continued and strengthened in the coming years, with the implementation of the LÉEL research agreement (2022-2027) and the constitution of a network of researchers, teachers, writers and artists.

Information and call for papers (deadline 30 November 2022) on the website of the LÉEL: https://ecrire.sciencesconf.org/

    • In this contribution, I propose to link the field of digital citizenship education to the autonomy paradigm. In the first part, starting from the observation of problematic uses of digital technologies for digital citizenship, the conference proposes an educational response articulating existing active pedagogies in an empowerment framework based on socioconstructivism and experiential learning. In the second part, the conference proposes an example of an educational sequence for empowerment and digital citizenship concerning the issue of the attention economy and leads to a schematization of the proposed approach.
