Signing of an international agreement between Aix-Marseille University and the Network of Higher Education Institutions of Rio de Janeiro (REARI-RJ)

Brazil, and especially Rio, is one of the international priority areas for Aix-Marseille University. This structuring action is part of its international strategy. It meets the desire for cooperation and internationalization of Brazilian universities, which have long established historical and cultural links with France.

The signing of the memorandum is part of the Latin American and Caribbean Week.

For the sixth consecutive year, France is celebrating Latin America and the Caribbean, from 23 May to 8 June 2019, with a programme of more than 500 cultural, scientific, political and economic events.

Cooperation will include the following objectives:

• support the exchange of students, lecturers, researchers and staff between AMU and REARI-RJ institutions
• enable high-level scientific production and continuity between biological and biomedical cognitive research and medical, clinical and public health research;
• encourage the joint participation of training and research teams in calls for projects
• encourage the implementation of actions in the field of French-speaking countries by making French as a foreign language readers available within the REARI-RJ institutions.
• enable the creation of a genuine network that can benefit from the support of the political and administrative authorities of the State and the City of Rio.
