SCD - Joint Documentation Service

The Joint Documentation Service (SCD) of the University of Aix-Marseille is the result of the merger of the three SCDs of the pre-existing universities. Its statutes were adopted by the University's Board of Directors at its meeting on 28 February 2012 and in accordance with Decree No. 2011-996 of 23 August 2011.

Under the authority of the President, the SCD implements the university's documentary policy, coordinates its resources and evaluates the services offered to users. It is administered by a documentary board composed of teacher-researchers, students and elected representatives of library staff.

Present on all the university's campuses and sites, the SCD runs a network of more than sixty libraries that offer workspaces adapted for individual or group use and are equipped with public computer stations, an Internet connection and Wi-Fi coverage.

• It contains more than 1,200,000 printed documents and provides access to a large portfolio of electronic resources (around 20,000 titles).
  
• It develops services for users, in particular by training users in new techniques for searching for information and in knowledge of specialized information sources.
  
• It is part of the university's projects to digitize and put online its productions and promote their reporting and dissemination.
  
• Qualified staff are committed to meeting the documentary needs of the community they serve.
  
• It integrates the university's documentary policy into the national policy of the IST and adheres to national and international documentary networks, thus contributing to the university's influence.
