Morlet Chair

The CIRM and the University of Aix-Marseille have created a research chair named after Jean Morlet (1931-2007), a French geophysicist who pioneered wavelet analysis.

The Jean-Morlet Chair is a scientific collaboration between the CIRM (CNRS-SMF) and Aix-Marseille University (AMU) with the financial support of the City of Marseille. Two international calls for proposals are launched each year in order to recruit internationally renowned researchers in their field. Over a period of one semester for each chair, a researcher from a foreign institution comes to reside at the CIRM and to propose a complete scientific program in collaboration with a local project leader.
