  • Duration: 10 months
  • Amount: €10,000 (i.e. €1,000 per effective month of presence)

Selection criteria and eligibility

The scholarship paid to Master 2 students includes internship bonuses, provided that the internship is carried out within Aix-Marseille University or in one of the institute's partner structures. For example, students will be able to prepare their Master thesis in one of the following research units:

  • Centre for Theoretical Physics (CPT),
  • Institut de Mathématiques de Marseille (I2M),
  • Laboratory of Informatics and Systems (LIS).

The scholarship is open to talented students with a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics or Computer Science, who have completed the first year of their Master's degree during the academic year 2018-2019, and who are in the process of applying for a Master 2 degree in Mathematics or Computer Science. The student must not have completed his or her Master 1 at the Aix Marseille Academy.

Also, students already receiving an income related to their studies are not eligible for this scholarship.

The subject of the Master's degree must be in line with the objectives of the Archimedes Institute, and have an international outlook (student or foreign partnership envisaged) and/or proven scientific excellence (promising subject at the forefront of the field of application).

Selection Panel

It is composed of the heads of the partner Masters of the Archimedes Institute, as well as a member of the management of the institute competent to judge the disciplinary fields proposed as research topics.

Application

  • Curriculum Vitae (max. 2 pages, please specify the level of proficiency in the French language), and academic results of the last 4 years, (to be compiled in a single document in .doc, .pdf or .zip format)
  • A letter of motivation, in effect, among other things, from :
    • your scientific interests
    • how your academic background and internships meet the criteria of the master's programme in which you wish to enrol
    • your plans for the future
  • Two letters of recommendation (including one from the person in charge of the master's degree you are currently following), which must be sent directly to us by the authors by e-mail in PDF format to institut-archimede@univ-amu.fr:
    • student name_teacher name_year of submission_MasterScholarship.pdf

Results

The admissibility of your application will be indicated to you within two weeks after the closing date. Successful candidates will be contacted from the beginning of May. For further information, please consult the Archimedes Institute's procedures guide.
