Launch of the "White Research" Call for Proposals

Within the framework of action area 4, "Incubation of projects to address major and priority scientific and societal challenges" of its roadmap 3.0 (2021-2024), the A*Midex Foundation is launching its call for "White Research" projects (link to the pdf text).

The fourth edition of the "White Research" call for proposals is intended to recognize and encourage innovative approaches that aim to give a significant boost to ambitious emerging or exploratory scientific projects that are favorably positioned in the national competition and that present original objectives.

Objectives

Specifically, this call intends to:

  • To select and fund emerging and innovative research projects, breaking with the "classical" research routes;
  • To encourage scientific audacity and the resolution of new and original questions;
  • Encourage the development of emerging or exploratory themes, disciplinary and interdisciplinary breakthroughs, new models, new methods, theoretical advances;
  • Maximize the impact on the Aix-Marseille site in terms of increased knowledge and importance of the results targeted by the research projects supported;
  • To improve the position of the site's projects in national and international programs.

Target audience

The 2022 "White Research" call for proposals is intended for researchers and teacher-researchers on the Aix-Marseille site, attached to a research unit under the supervision or co-supervision of AMU.

What does the "Blanc" call for research projects fund?

The Blanc call for proposals has a funding program of €10 million over 4 years, from 2023 to 2026. The funding granted per project will be between 70 K€ and 350 K€.

The eligible expenses are the following:

  • Expenses for non-permanent research staff.
  • Operating and mission expenses.
  • Investment expenses specific to research equipment are eligible up to a limit of 30% of the total amount of funding awarded.
  • Computer equipment: only for specific scientific computer equipment related to the execution of the project - Excluding office equipment which is not covered by A*MIDEX funding.

Type of projects supported

The call for projects covers all areas of scientific research and allscientific fields of the Aix-Marseille site. The projects may concern fundamental or more specific research.

How to apply?

The submission of the application is done in two steps, on the submission platform: https://amidex-aap.univ-amu.fr/

  • STEP 1: DECLARATION OF INTENT

The declaration of intent is a MANDATORY step in the process. However, it is not subject to selection.
Applicants are invited to click on the button "SUBMIT A PROJECT" available on the submission platform. They log in with their ENT login and password on their application space.

  • STEP 2: COMPLETE PROJECT PROPOSAL

At this stage, applicants provide a complete file presenting their project (activities and budget). This file will be submitted for analysis and evaluation.
From the opening date of step 2, applicants who have submitted a first intention are then invited to submit their complete file at the latest at the end of step 2 by clicking on "STATUS OF MY PROJECTS" and transferring to their project space :

  • The completed application form
  • The project budget
  • The annexes. Attention: some annexes are mandatory

In order to submit the application form, you must click on the "submit" button at the bottom right of the application form. The status of the application will change from "open" to "submitted" once the application has been submitted. No additions will be possible after the closing of the submission platform at the indicated deadline.
