The Institute's activities will aim to

  • Bringing technological advances in the digital world to the healthcare sector by proposing hardware and software solutions in the form of new medical devices;
  • Facilitate access to health data in a coherent and concerted manner for the development (research) or use (care) of new medical devices;
  • Develop a platform to facilitate the aggregation, sharing, and reuse of health data for research purposes;
  • Putting the human being at the heart of our reflections in order to remove possible ethical and legal barriers in the use of sensitive hardware and software technologies and the related health data;
  • Establish a complete medical training program, including initial training, in digital sciences and artificial intelligence for health in collaboration with the FSMPM educational leaders;
  • Promote collaborative research projects within the Institute and/or in collaboration with either other AMU Institutes or interested industrialists by proposing calls for projects such as miniRHU@AMU co-financed by the Institute and its partners;
  • Recruiting high-level PhD and post-doc students;
  • To set up a scientific animation (seminars, thematic days, inter/trans-disciplinary and general public conferences, etc.);
  • To set up a research work-study program in laboratories/hospital services for master's students and engineering students;
  • Promote technology transfer and awareness of entrepreneurship in this field.

Located on the Timone site, the Laënnec Institute has within its perimeter 6 components, 3 doctoral schools, 22 research units, 3 national CNRS disciplinary institutes and two institutional partners.
