
Since the start of the 2019/20 academic year, non-EU students are required to pay differentiated fees (i.e., registration fees of a different amount than those applicable to EU nationals) with the exception of certain cases determined in the national exemption framework.
As of the 2022/23 academic yearTherefore, an automatic partial exemption from the differentiated registration fees will be applied for all students subject to the differentiated fees enrolled in a national diploma, not repeating a year, nationals of the countries listed in color (see right column)

Community or national student
► I am a member of the European Union (EU) and/or the European Economic Area (EEA), including Andorra, Monaco, Quebec, am I concerned by the differentiated rights? NO, I do not pay the differentiated fee for the entire duration of my education.
Enrolled in 2018/19 in a French Higher Education Institution or FLE center
► I am not a member of the EU and/or EEA but was enrolled in 2018/19 in a French Higher Education Institution or in a FLE (French as a Foreign Language) center, am I concerned by the differentiated rights? NO, I do not pay the differentiated fee for the entire duration of my education.
Enrolled at AMU since 2019/20
► I am not a member of the EU and/or EEA but was enrolled at AMU between 2019/20 and 2021/22, am I concerned by the differential rights? NO, unless I am a repeat student in 2022/23. For example: enrolled in L1 Law in 2021/22 and re-enrolling in L1 Law in 2022/23, I pay the differentiated fee.
Interruption of studies
► I am not a member of the EU and/or EEA and was enrolled in 2019/20 at AMU but I interrupted my studies, do I have to pay the differentiated fees if I re-enroll in 2022/23? No, all students who had at least one enrollment during the period between 2019/20 and 2021/22 are exempt from the differentiated fee (unless repeating in 2022/23).
► I am not a member of the EU and/or EEA and was enrolled in 2017/18 at AMU and interrupted my studies in 2018/19, do I have to pay the differentiated fees if I re-enroll in 2022/23? Yes, because the base year for implementing the differentiated fee is 2018/19.
Repeat student
► I am repeating my studies in 2022/23 and I am subject to the differentiated fees. Will I have to pay the differentiated fees the following year? No I will not pay the differentiated fee if I progress in my degree.
1st registration at AMU in 2022/23
► I am not a member of the EU and/or EEA and I am registering for thefirst time at AMU in 2022/23, do I have to pay the differential fees? NO, provided that my country of nationality is listed among the exempted countries by the institution. If my country of nationality is not in the list of exempt countries (e.g., UK or Brazil) I will pay the differentiated fee.
► I am British, do I have to pay the differentiated fees? Yes, if you are registering for the1st time at AMU in 2022/23. However, if you were enrolled at AMU between 2019/20 and 2021/22, you will remain exempt from the differentiated fee (unless you repeat a year in 2022/23).
PhD, HDR, CPGE, exchange program...
► I am not a member of the EU and/or EEA and I want to enroll in thefirst year of a PhD program, do I have to pay the differential fees? NO, because they only apply to1st and2nd cycle national degrees. Likewise for the Habilitations à Diriger des Recherches (HDR) and3rd cycle diplomas of Health Studies (excluding short cycle).
► I am not a member of the EU and/or EEA and I want to enroll in an institutional diploma, am I concerned by the differential fees? NO, because the differentiated fees only apply to national degrees, excluding doctorate, HDR and3rd cycle of Health Studies (excluding short cycle).
► I am not a member of the EU and/or EEA and I am a CPGE student in a high school, enrolled at the same time at AMU, am I concerned by the differential fees? NO, students under a partnership agreement with AMU are excluded from the scheme.
► I am an ERASMUS exchange student, do I have to pay the differential fees? No, I am not concerned by the differentiated rights.
Special status: scholarship holder, refugee, French resident
► I am a refugee, do I have to pay the differential fee? NO, students with refugee status, as well as beneficiaries of subsidiary protection, children of a beneficiary of such status (refugees or subsidiary protection), family members or EU citizens, are not concerned by the differentiated fees.
► I am not a member of the EU and/or EEA but I am a French resident, am I concerned by the differential fees? No, provided you have been a long-term French resident or attached to a tax household in France for more than 2 years.
► I am not a member of the EU and/or EEA, and a scholarship holder on social criteria, do I have to pay the differentiated fees? No, just like French government or embassy scholarship holders.
